The state-recognized resort is located on the Großer Brombachsee and, along with Gunzenhausen, is
an important tourist resort in the Franconian Lake District and the most important town on the
Brombachsee. Giant infrastructure tasks adopted within the
1970s and 1980s, corresponding to the construction of the center
college, the indoor swimming pool, the Brombachhalle and the bypass on federal highway 2.
The Brombach storage venture in the nineteen nineties
changed the panorama considerably and Pleinfeld
turned a state-recognized resort. The 2.1 km² reservoir
has a bank length of 11.9 km. The Großer Brombachsee extends in the northwest and covers large components of the
municipal space. The population focuses on the middle of the municipal area with the main town of Pleinfeld as by far the biggest place as well

Pleinfeld was severely affected by the Thirty Years' War and was burned down by the Swedes in 1632; In 1634 there was no pastor because of a scarcity of residents.
